What’s “Gunoé” ?
We quickly forget photos taken with our smartphones, but we remember hand-drawn pictures for a long time. By observing carefully and using our hands, we create memories that are filled with emotion. A sketch filled with wishes also has the power to make your dreams come true.
GEKKOSO GUNOÉ is a stick-shaped watercolor paint made from specially processed Gekkoso original watercolor paints. If you dissolve the stick-paints with a water-brush-pen while they are still in the case, they turn into vividly colored watercolor paints. If you remove the holder, they can also be used as colored pencils. The durable aluminum case is light, simple and free of excess decoration.
While traveling or visiting a cafe, you can jot down ideas as they pop into your head pinning down the dreams you want to realize.
GEKKOSO GUNOÉ is the ultimate innovative portable art tool supporting people's analog art life and freedom of expression.
About Us
Since its founding in 1917, Gekkoso has pursued a creative way of life by creating spaces where people of all kinds can freely interact through the craftsmanship of authentic items and the excitement of color and sound.
Gekkoso has maintained its independence as a family business for three generations, always selecting the best materials, and inheriting and developing the know-how of original manufacturing through trial and error, to propose Made in Japan aesthetics and culture to the world. This is the mission that Gekkoso Maison must fulfill in any era.
From art supplies to clothing, tableware, and furniture, Gekkoso is expanding the boundaries of its creations and moving steadily into a new era. Even as it responds to a world in great flux, Gekkoso will not lose its identity as a company that started out as a purely domestic paint manufacturer.
Based on the idea that a sense of color and sound are the treasures of life, Gekkoso offers a way of life that respects the uniqueness of Japan's climate, culture, and language. We deliver unchanging, reliable values and moments in harmony with the ever-changing times.
Gekkoso was founded in 1990.
Cobalt Blue
The history of Japan's first 100% domestically produced paint began with Gekkoso's Cobalt Blue.
Aluminum pallet
Gekkoso uses aluminum palettes, inspired by an episode in which the Paris Color Society used a gray aluminum palette to accurately determine colors in 1945.
